Chirripo Challenge

Day 1
1 PM, We start our journey to the South from San Jose on the Panamerican Highway to San Isidro de General. From there our trip continues nearby the small village of San Gerardo de Rivas. Overnight at El Bosque Vista Cerro, Talari or similar

Day 2
5 AM, after breakfast, we will be taken by car to the entrance of the National Park. There we will start the hike up to
Crestone's Base, the National Park's shelters, located at an altitude of 11,150 feet (3400 meters) above sea level. There we will stay for two nights. The first hike takes approximately 8 to 9 hours. The ascent to this point is fascinating, since the scenery, vegetation, and wildlife change constantly as we gain altitude. Overnight at the park's shelter. (B,L,D)

Day 3
After breakfast we trek through majestic valleys covered by paramo vegetation and surrounded by rocky mountains until we reach Chirripo Peak, 12,550 feet (3820 meters) high and about 2.5 miles away from our base camp. We will enjoy a fantastic view of the nearby mountain ranges and peaks from the summit. On clear days, both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans may be seen. After climbing to the peak, we will return to the shelters. An optional afternoon hike to Los Crestones can be organized to enjoy the sunset. Overnight at the park's shelter. (B,L,D,)
